Panorama: New Perspectives on Richter
Symposium at Tate Modern, London, UK
21 October 2011

Nicholas Serota addresses Richter's abstract paintings of the second half of the 1970s. Serota looks at the origins of Richter's abstract works, which evolved into the large-format abstracts with vibrant colours of the 1980s.

Sir Nicholas Serota is Director of Tate and co-curated the exhibition Gerhard Richter: Panorama with Mark Godfrey. As Director of the Whitechapel Art Gallery, Serota presented Richter's first solo exhibition in London in 1979.
