This catalogue was published on the occasion of the exhibition Richter en France at the Musée de Grenoble in 2009. Both the exhibition and catalogue are dedicated to works by Gerhard Richter that belong to public collections and museums in France.

Bilanz in zwei Akten is an exhibition catalogue as well as an inventory of the Niedersächsische Sparkassenstiftung. In the course of two consecutive exhibitions the collection was presented at Kunstverein Hannover on the occasion of its 20th anniversary.

For the artist, producing works on paper creates a reflective distance from his painterly oeuvre. It is clearly evident that time and time again Richter returns to watercolours when his oil work moves into a new direction.
